Now that you have given your heart to the Lord, 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells that you are a new creation. As a new believer you may have questions as to what happens next.
Choose a bible. There are many translations to choose from (ESV, NIV, NLT, KJV, NKJV). I prefer the New King James Version but you should choose the translation that’s easiest for you to understand.
Find a church. The purpose of the church is evangelism, discipleship, allow spiritual maturity and community. Ephesians 4:11-16 tells us God gave us teachers, apostles, prophets and evangelist for the equipping of the saints in ministry. You are a saint. Your church should meet your spiritual needs. Try as many church services as necessary until God leads you to the right one. If you are in the area I welcome you to my church home Xceleration Church in Humble, TX.
Sign up for baptism. The Greek word Baptzo “baptism” means to immerse, to dip, to submerge.
1 Peter 3:21 tells us that we are to be baptized as a pledge of a clear conscience toward God. Baptism is a public declaration of your faith. It symbolizes that you have turned from your old life of sin to your new life as a follower of Jesus Christ. It means that you publicly identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Next, you should surround yourself with other believers. Proverbs 12:26, 1 Corinthians 15:33. Have you ever heard the phrase “You are the company you keep”? Meaning, the company you keep reflects on your personality or you are judged by the your friends. It is hard to spiritually mature if you surround yourself with non believers and it is more likely that you will grow “cold” in your walk with Christ. Which leads to the next point.
You must fellowship and serve. 1 John 1:5-7. We are all called to serve and to do so with love. God has equipped each and every one of us with special gifts. We are to use these gifts to serve our church and our community. Ask your church elder where you can serve. There is a place for you. You have already been given the gift necessary to serve. You just have to trust that God will guide you to it. Remember, serving with the wrong heart will do no good but when serving with love we glorify the kingdom of God.
Deciding to give your heart to God does not mean you are perfect or expected to be. It means that you are ready for a new start, to turn away from sin and live a righteous life. No one is perfect. Everyone will sin. The important thing to remember is to repent and ask God for forgiveness when you make a mistake.
Matthew 4:4, Stay in the Word. It is key to have praise and worship (read the Bible, listen to an audio Bible or watch online sermons). It is
important that you keep your self spiritually fed.
Ephesians 6:10-20, You will experience spiritual warfare. You must be equipped with the spiritual weapons necessary to fight this battle.
God bless you, may you continue your walk by faith and not by sight.

Lord, I pray for the person reading this article. I ask that you continue to bless their walk with you. Whatever is going on in their life, I pray that you give them strength to endure. Let them look to you in all things and know that in you they will find love, peace, acceptance, forgiveness and purpose. I thank you Lord that no matter what they are facing, you will get them trough it. Their testimony will be used for your glory and will help encourage others to get though trials of their own. In your blessed name I pray, Amen.
